Any sailing rowboats out there for sale?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Open-water rowing : One Thread

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a 16' to 18' whitehall or dory with a sailing rig and a trailer. Sliding seats a definite plus. Thanks Henry

New or used? Wood or fiberglass? Kit or whole boat? Locally I have only seen an ocasional 14ft gig harbor whitehall for sale in the Seattle Times want-ads. (And it was pretty rare) But I do know that the builder does consignment sales.

A quick google search turned up these builders: http://www.nwboatschool.org/boats/rowboats.htm#Whitehall http://www.ghboats.com http://www.whitehallrow.com/whitehall17.html

I have no vested interest in any of these boats/dealers. -Gary-

A wood one for sale in Ontario CA http://www.muskoka-canoe.brackley-boats.on.ca/

One in Vancouver BC. http://www.takrealtor.com/boat.htm

Some general row boat information and links to other manufacturers: http://eartheasy.com/rowpage.htm

One other thing, contact the manufacturers and ask about used boats, they sometimes hear back from customers who want to sell and take the boats on consignment or trade.

Oh yeah, the least expensive in $ may be to build your own. I found this class (I do not know whether the class builds 1 swampscott dory, or everyone builds their own. Nor do I know anything about the quality of instruction at this school.)

I was just looking at the Lowell boat shop web page and they listed a number of used wooden sailing dories. I don't know anything about them but one was listed in Maine. -Gary-

I have an 18' Lowell Boat Yard Sailing Dory that I just put on the market. Built in 1991, it is in perfect condition with a well for the 9.9 Susuki four stroke. Has a Gunter Gaff rig with tanbark sai and spinnaker. All mahogany and oak recently painted at the Lowell Boat Yard. If there is any interest contact me anytime. Oars are ten foot long for the three sets of oarlocks. Trailer is oversized in excellent condition.

I am looking for such a boat. Do you still own it and if so, what is the asking price? Thanks! P. Sharp
