Hey all,

I have mad respect for DjDevon3 and everything he has accomplished with SouthFloridaRaves, he's a great friend and one heck of a nice guy... sadly, he's been having a ton of problems with his internet host, and SFR's been up & down, up & down over the past few months. Hopefully his issues will be resolved soon!

For anyone out there who is into the rave scene within the state of Florida, particularly anyone interested in web forums like this one, or mailing lists/discussion groups like SFR and NFR, please feel free to check out FEMF, FLORIDA'S ELECTRONIC MUSIC FORUMS, at http://listen.to/femf/ - this website aims to become the definitive resource listing EVERY SINGLE FORUM & MAILING LIST devoted to the Florida state rave and electronic music scene. NFR has just been added as well as dozens of other lists, websites and forums. Feel free to check it out anytime!

Also, check out FEMF's mother page, the Florida state electronic music scene collective known as the Euphoria Project. Operating since May of 2001, we're devoted to continually improving the spirit & unity of Florida's electronic music community. With a continual lineup of new house parties and club events, plus a massive range of promotional tools for DJs, venue owners and promoters, Euphoria Project is doing everything it possibly can to see that Florida's scene isn't just surviving - but that it's THRIVING!

Much Love and Respect,

Mitchel Waas! =O )

HELLO MY FELLOW SCENE MEMBERS,`

LOOK THE SCENE IN FL HAS DIED SENCE ALL OF THECOPS HAVE BEEN ON US LIKE SPINKLES ON DOUNUTS. I THINK THAT THE ONLY WAY WE CAN GET THE SCENE BACK THE WAY IT WAS IS TO TAKE IT BACK TO WHERE IT CAME FROM AND IF YOUDONT KNOW WHERE IT CAME FROM THEM DIG A HOLE AND CLIMB IN IT AND YOU WILL BE WHERE IT WAS ORIGINATED. WE ARE GETTING TO COMERCIAL WITH IT THATS WHY WE CANT DO IT LIKE IT SHOULD BE DONE IT SHOULD BE LIVE AND UNCUT NOT UP IN EVERYONES FACE ONLY THE PEOPLE OF THE SCENE SHOULD BE IN THE LIGHT AND IF YOU DONT KNOW NOW YOU KNOW .....

BUT THIS IS JUST HOW I FEEL IF ANY BODY HAS A DIFFERENT THOUGHT THAN THATS FINE BUT IF YOU ARE REAL THAN YOU KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. I MEAN IT WOULD BE KOOL IF WE COULD DO THIS SHIT WITHOUT ANYBODY GETTING IN TROUBLE BUT THERE ARE DUMB LAWS SAYING THAT WHAT WE DO IS WRONG BUT WHO THE FUCK ARE THEY TO SAY WHAT WE DO IS WRONG ....

THATS THAT PZ OUT PEEPS

kidd kaoz could'nt be more right! The scene is screwed if we dont take it back to the oldskool. Music AND Parties. the scene is so commercial now i sometimes dont want anything to do with it. All the years i've spent working to one day come on strong with tunes to change the world, and i fear i'll never let them be heard. Not cause i dont want to, but cause the current scene is hardly worthy.

GIVE US BACK OUR SCENE!

Heres my thing. I was introduced farely recently to the whole scene by a friend. I dont want to be pushed away cause im new, but I dont want to sound like some poser fuck, cause i know how much those suck. Whats a good way to find partys and events and shit without sounding like a complete moron. Peace.

Man, I cant believe how shitty its been everywhere. when i started partying at the age of thirteen in baltimore maryland i thought i had found my place now its gone and my place is only at home lets start the new era, im tired of dancing all by myself tonight i wanna dance with someone else. twostepqueen has spoken.

I too grew up in Baltimore/Washington D.C. and feel alotta my northern peeps pain on the issue of finding parties and real ravers around here. They do exist but they're are scarce and kinda hidden. Basicly a monopoly is going on in tampa and o-town I can't really say by who,..even though I and they know who they are,...But they think they can dominate other DJ's, party promoters, and generally any party kid trying to contribute anything positive to this scene. They kick other promoters generators out @ the other promoters parties, talk shit about other kids parties so people won't go, and basicly make it very hard for any up-and-comming DJ to spin out. Don't even bother going to club parties unless you want the DEA taking a picture of you with a purse or button cammera. Right now the scene sucks cause every two years in o-town and tampa a good promoter passes the torch to someone else and kaos soon erupts cause the immature fucker who got the torch passed to him or her thinks "hey this could go somewhere" and they wind up getting gready,...and not just money gready,..but the DJ's they support fight with each other and don't wanna give others a chance,..cause they think "oooh we gonna be like Icey or Tiesto and make $$$ someday",..when the truth is they aint. That takes a special breed and alot of time and money and even then they wont be like those world known DJ's cause tiesto and guys like Icey are puppets to the music industry. So the sooner some of the old skool promoters like mindchime or diggity,....or Dominick(god rest his soul) and others take back the rane,...and the sooner these other local guys realize they aint gonna be massive, monster, big name DJ's, the sooner the scene will revitalize it's self. For all the kids that wanna know how to find out about the parties that are going down you gotta meet the inside raver elite before we even consider tryin to tell you about the illegal parties we throw. Those that are still truckin out to the parties are tired and weary. We've had the DEA bust us and harass us. Cops beat us up in interagation rooms and generally devistated our parties using raids and random injunctions and shut downs. Fellow ravers disreguard us and throw us away in pursuit of the next flavor of the week in this scene. So before trying to go to raves here consider all the above and I guess don't take it to heart if in aint what it used to be cause it won't be. Be careful not to let yourself get used. Keep to yourself and your close family of fellow ravers and there still might be a scene in o-town/tampa after bush and his conservative allies are done with they're war on our culture.

Hi everyone if there is anyone :) I want to a rave last night in NYC "flashback" and I didn't feel the vibe I use to. Maybe I am to old? 25 to old? no hell no. Any way I use to go to raves in late 90's and it was great. And the kicker was that I was not a raver,-I didn't dress like a rave- I was a regualry joe but people had that good vibe feel and took me in and I danced my arse off. Whatever happened to people who just want to dance and have a good time? Keep the scene going if you can FL. By the way I pay 20$ for flashback weren't raves free?? Peace Damian.

DJ Digitek,

So thats what's been going on here. I noticed there hasn't been anything in a while, other then TTM2. Was the DEA all over that event too? I see what your saying about other DJs and promoters in the area. Santana, 303, X, Baby Anne are good, but there not going to be a world known DJ's. Jus aint gonna happen. Hmmmm. so raves are hard to throw here? I didnt know Tampa was that strict. I know AV02 is being watched by the cops, dont know bout Nightmoves II though. Where did the Happy Hardcore stuff go, all that DJs perform here is Progressive Trance, Jungle, etc.

Ah well, hopefully the scene will improve.

-- Anonymous, December 08, 2004

Hahahaha TTM2? I spun there,..Tim forgot he booked me for an end slot and didnt get me on the flyer,....TTM2 wasn't anything like the first TTM I heard,...I had fun,....I was the guy spining backwards on acid in the roller rink,....but yeah that and a whole slew of things has been happening. Don't get me wrong I sometimes sound really regative about the scene here,..but aparently it's all over the country. I think what's happening is all us "old-raver complainers" are just getting older and our social group is now the minority so it's an awkward position for all us kids that like running and just being like "whatever" when we see or do some crazy fucked up shit. For me I guess I care about my fellow ravers and I'm passionate about the music and culture so I take the newbie bullshit and music recycling business very seriously. Ultimately somethings gotta give,...either the drug situation gets under control and we as ravers start learning to open our minds and stop judging each other or we'll wind up drinking shots in some local bar ten years from now and listening to like some CD and it'll be old skool tracks,...I mean in my mind I'm just imagining the music and culture being diminished to something you take a shot of vodka and your listening to DJ Sammy or some shit like it's "margaritaville" I remember when I used to party and dance to that song,....I'm like fuck this shit,...I aint letting my culture be an oldie but goodie like my parents,....let's all get together and accept the fact that the scene has no more profit potential without killing and sacrifycing the vibe and the safety of it's people. If we all got together and just had small things where it was just accpeted no cover no charge for your first pill or blotter and a rotation of donations or some system of paying to make out even on small small events then there might be a happy medium and the DEA will stop fucking with us.

I didn't fully answer your question though,....AVO2 was completely shut down and last I saw on the news Lou (the owner of AVO2) was found guilty on 25 counts of whatever charges they gave him,...I'm sure what charges they gave him but when I was in hotwax a month or two ago there was talk he was getting charged with accessory to murder and could face the death penalty or some crazy fucked up shit under this damn rave act bull shit. But I know for a fact he was found guilty of operating a continuing criminal operation that's almost as close as it get's to straight up rico charges I used to see narcs in that bitch all the time,..but I know this much from rumors and my own intuitive opinion of the situation,.....the snitch or imformant has been made out and theres close to 10g's on his head. If they ever find that punk rat bitch, I wanna personally cut his head off with a machedy and piss on his corpse. I'm sure that motha fucka's tucked away nice in witness protection though. But what's going on is older ravers that got family's are getting arresting and folding when faced with goin to jail and losing there children so they punk out and betray their own family by working as imformants. Whoever those ravers are karma's a bitch and when you get maid by your family guard your children and wives, husbands, moms, and sisters, and anything else you care about cause one day we gonna find out you was a snitch and fuck up your bad and ugly cause killing a baby aint no worse then being rat. To snitch your own people out is the lowest thing on this earth lower then being a swine. I hope whoever's informing the cops on us get's shot in the face so they moms and pops gotta have a closed casket wake. On a more positive note,...I heard Candyland 9 or whatever it was this year was an extream runaway sucess with old skool vibes and people caring about each other just a very very good event. When you weed out the sour apples this still is pretty good we just gotta be paitient. For all those like myself who are from the fellowship not of the DJ but the dancer,...I say dance get looked at like an idiot,..because there aint no other way to teach then teaching by example.

Peace

Tampa has some mad skillz when it comes to electronic music producers. The synthetic dream foundation is absolutely wicked with psytrance, and industrial music! Check em out: http://www.tsdf.net/

Yeah, I heard from people in jail that chino and martin testified against lou in the federal trial, obviously telling lies. I personally watched lou kick people out (even the two previously mentioned), even hand them over to police, when he discovered they had drugs. He did everything he possibly could to deter that kind of activity inside his club. The cops just don't want raves, shareholders meetings, or even barn dances where there is no alcohol being sold. The DEA would have found more drugs shaking down a prom than they found in AV-O2. It's really sad to see that club go, weak as it was.

-- Anonymous, January 25, 2005

Yeah even Lou kicked me out a couple times,......I won't admit I was breaking the law,...but I'll just say Lou was assiting the DEA and got screwed cause of some snitches that are gonna get stitches. Oh and them Psy Trance kids,.....they're actually pretty cool,.....met them at an event I was spining @ in Okiechoonobie,..or however it's spelled. I not a big fan of psy trance kinda reminds me of progressive house and 90's style minimal trance fused. But it's cool,...i like how there aint much U.S. representation of Psy Trance.

first off sorry if this long but there may be valuable info to you north florida ravers here!

NORTH FLORIDA PARTIES: Hey guys this is Tim from Daytona Beach.... I noticed some of you would like more info on up north events. I have also noticed that there are lots of events up here that arent posted anywhere. The scene in South Florida is the place to be it seems. 8up.com(must join as a member) is a great resource... I usually find 2-5 events thru my searching on the internet and at venues collecting flyers every month within an hour of Daytona. DJ FIXX is playing at the Croc Club next weekend Feb.12 in Ocala for example. On the night of TTM2 (11/20) there was an old skool reunion in Daytona called Xstatic Bliss...Last weekend Rick West and Tony Faline dropped new records at Fuel in Daytona... I usually try to post all the events I find anywhere near me on 8up and sometimes floridabreaks.org.. **no offense to anyone** but I think 8up is a lot better from my experiences of floridabreaks having limited party information. I havent checked out the NFR site (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NorthFloridaRaves/) yet but I will be sure to join, and also post all events that I am made aware of at 8up.com and the NFR site.

THE SCENE AND WHAT I THINK: I personally have only been to about 10-15 parties but I can see how all this commercialism is killing the scene. It scares me to think that in a couple or a few years from now the scene will be exstinct or at most completley bastardized by greedy promoters and government intervention. Can we all unite and take this back where it came from as a whole? thats the question.... I believe that the strength that holds ravers together is like nothing else, becuase we all have that one thing in common, that not many other people do.... its about the music, the experience.... the lights.. and sometimes the emotions... our slogan is peace love unity respect for crying out loud... when we get high we want to hug people, meet new people, touch stuff, SMILE and DANCE! But yet bars all over the US keep pumping out the substance that when intoxicated, can make you want to fight, get rowdy and start shit... and DEA isint THERE taking pictures are they?! (but of course e is a lot more dangerous as well as schedule1 I know) feel free to email me or antimatter79 on AIM
