Is the upgrade changing just the slip-ons and the chip, without going with the performance manifold a worthwhile upgrade? I don't feel like springing for the additional $1,500 for the manifold as well.

Actually the manifold on it's own is $929. But if you buy the RG3/manifold/Eprom combo Ferracci sells it for $2295.
