Public Art : LUSENET : Public Art : One Thread

Here is my essay question:

Looking at any two specific examples discuss women's work in Public or Community arts.

The questions I've been asking myself and not being able to answer are, How are the works different from men's? do they allways address feminist issues? why do the pieces need to be outside rather than in a gallery? What are the benefits of women's public art?

Obviously the answers to the these questions would be different depending on the art piece, but if anyone has any useful feedback, or there own views on public art, good artist examples, and primarily useful websites. Thankyou very much.

I just happened to come across this site while looking for information on public art. I'm not sure if this is a Canadian site. If it is, and if you are looking for information on Canadian women public artists there is I book I would recommend. The title is "Stealing the Show", by Gunda Lambton. I think the publication date is 1999 or 2000. I hope this helps.
