Fox War Coverage

greenspun.com : LUSENET : FRL friends : One Thread

I think last nights war coverage on Fox was one of the most surreal things I've ever seen. (outside of the first day..with tanks rolling into Iraq..since I've now already become accustomed to seeing the war 'live' on digital phone cam thingys)

They were cutting between their live reporter with our troops at the presidential palace in bahgdad, with active battle still going on behind him ...and the Iraqi minister of information on live iraqi tv denying we were there. It was so funny, you could tell the Fox reporters were just having a good ole'time with the whole scenario.

Its really has been somewhat amusing watching a war live on tv. I hope that doesnt reflect too poorly on me. :(

(And hello FRLians..hugs to you all..!)

Kritter sighting!

I've been following things very cclosely, and have been amazed at the (lousy/biased/inane) treatment we've been getting from the press.

Best coverage is Fox News, but Freerepublic.com has an on-going thread of continuous commentary questions and analysis.

We're getting some 3,000 to 6,000 answers and questions and comments and pictures per day! (More than 1 per minute worldwide.)

THAT level of info teaches you much more than the news.

Fox is the best by far. Even the troops themselves say so, and they should know!

Hiya Kritter! Thumbs up for Fox News from me!

Some things are humorous, others are tragically sad. That Iraqi Information guy has a cult following now! (AND a website!) Many found him very entertaining.

Today we saw the rescue of the American prisoners. Sheer joy. My heart was breaking for their families when they were captured, but now they will have their young ones back. Truly, thank God.

Fox may be the flag-waving channel but it doesn't seem to mind taking a short term loss to accomplish maximum coverage. I don't think it ran any ads during the first week of the campaign. It was on the air live 24/7. Those folks must be tired.

All the channels had excellent embeds, IMO. Maybe the best war reporting since Ernie Pyle.

Kind of ironic timing, but a CNN bigwig just came out with a revelation about how CNN 'covered up' for Iraq's regime in exchange for favored access. Some of youz guyz might find it interesting. Here's the url:

I doubt that CNN were the only ones keeping quiet, either. Nor is that the only place in the world where they don't bother to report news - if it's not USA (or Canada, here) people won't watch it, and that will be true as long as advertising pays for the news.

Read that story too.

Sobering, many observers (few of whom respect CNN in the first place it must be admitted) are assuming that CNN sat on the story/misrepresented their stories to curry favor with Bagdad and the international press.

CNN International news presented a very, very different picture of thewar according to the Wall Street Journal story two days ago. They were specifically ignoring US POW recovery, and US humanitarian relief to show Iraqi ex-government "civians" complaining about the government buildings and palaces being captured (and looted.)

I'm late getting in, but there is a website with baghdad bob's timeless quotes, and it is a hoot. Sobering thing is: he is probably only one of many who make it up as they go along. Others are more subtle. Can you imagine crossing him with billyjeff? Argh!

Nice seeing ya Kritter.

Have a dandy Easter, everybody.

It's ironic that CNN made its reputation during the first "Gulf War' and now during this one has deservedly lost it, except for some folks who still 'don't get it'. Wait till the troops come home, they'll tell 'em. CNN ratings are way down as more and more folks get tired of their America-doesn't-do-anything-right bullshit. And ratings are even lower for the equally left non-cable alphabet stations.

And most of the newspapers are only good for wiping your butt too. Mostly owned by only a dozen or so people, believe it or not...the same leftist anti-American jerks who call the shots at CNN and other major stations. Did you read the NY Times or Washington Post or LA Times during the beginning of the war? I'll leave it for you to judge if these 'mainstream, highly-regarded' newspapers are worth anything other than to wipe your butt. If you want 'news' don't even bother with any of them. THey are all buttwipes.

Maybe Baghdad Bob can get a job at---you guessed it---CNN. What an asswipe, he should fit right in.

Thank God for Fox News.
