EPROM identifing?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

Hello all,

My bike that I just bought have 2 extra EPROM chips comming with it.

Could someone help me identify them?

1: Paperlabel glued to chip: F4U1683 8E00-88582. Is this the original? 2: M27C512-15F1 B882M 0040K SINGAPORE. small ST logo on it.

The one on the bike is a "2002 Performance chip"

Thanks for reading...

What bike do you have? Which exhaust manifold (header) do you have? Which silencers (slip-ons) do you have?

It is a 2000 F4S. To my knowledge, the standard system is still on the bike.

I believe the eproms are matchted to both the motor (i.e. Senna, SPR, Evo2, pre-Evo2, etc.), exhaust manifold and silencers. If your chip say's "2002 Performance Chip" it may not even be an MV part. There are at least 4 chips for the 2002 model year and to the best of my knowledge they are maximized for the Evo2 (2002) motor. Changing the manifold or silencer would usually require a different chip from stock. Perhaps the previous owner was playing around with differnt chips to increase performance. Anyway, the part numbers I've seen and used don't sound like anything you have. For example, the pre-Evo2 F4 750 (126 HP) with a standard manifold and the RG3 exhaust should be using the "A 004 RG3" chip. However, the "8E00- 88582" is a chip designation used in the SPR manifold installation. Perhaps there's a difference between what is stamped on the chip and the MV-SP part number. Anyway, if it's a stock manifold with stock silencers, the factory/dealer should be happy to help you figure out the best one for the purpose.
