greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have burned my own VCD's from avi's. most of them work fine but some with some alternate audio formats do not play the sound in my dvd player. I have installed all codecs but i doubt thats the problem. any suggestions to help my VCD's?

VCD has very strict requirements about audio. You must use MPEG-2 audio (also called MPEG-1 layer II audio) at a constant 224 Kbps. If you have done anything else, that's probably why it's not working. Stick to the standards and you'll be OK. Go to http://www.vcdhelp.com for help on conversion, VCD format requirements, etc.

I have found this to be a problum on my DVD player that is about 2+ years old. The solution is to use the 650mb (74min) CD's. Only the newer machines can read the larger format disks.
