Resistance Seam Welding Sintered Mesh 316Lss

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Resistance Welding : One Thread

Dear Forum,

I am looking to resistance weld Sintered Mesh (2 layers of mesh which have been sintered together, a fine top layer of approx 80um opening and a courser support layer of approx 1000um. The wire diameter of the top layer is very small, around 50um diameter. The thickness of the laminate is 1.2mm).

Essentially the flat panel will be rolled into a cylinder and I am looking to resistance weld the axial seam. The tubes will be from 2.5" diameter to 7" diamater and will be 4ft in length.

Since this is for a filter application, there can not be pore size greater in the weld area greater than the laminate itself.

Has anyone experiance in welding this material and could give some pointers to possible machinery manufacturers etc ?

Thanks and Regrards Megan
