I need some good plans on building a go kart and is there stuff I can use at my local hardware store to build 1. Is there anyone who knows or has a cheap engine that I can use. Thanks

First, find plans for a go-kart in a catalog (like Northern Equipment) and order the plans from there so you will a. have an easier time understanding them and b. you will also be able to order the parts that you need straight from the plans because it gives you the product number so all you have to do is call Northern and order your parts and build a go-kart that you like.˙

Thanks but does Northern Equipment have a web site?

You need an engine what kinda price range. You can get a Brigg & Stratton from canadian tire or princess auto for realy cheap. Get a frame from a golf cart or soething and drill holes and mount the engine. It depends what engine you get but if its horizontal shaft you can run a belt or chan to a sprocket or pulley on the back axle. If its vertical get a gearbox that with run the axle.

I need a horizontal engine the cheaper the better, about 5 hp and atleast under 150$ prefer under 100 I can work with a 3 or 4 hp but a 5 would be nice.I have the plans and I am starting on the frame I am planning on using sprockets and chains. I live in USA do you know if they have a web site or a catalog I can get? Thanks

Hey go to google and search canadian tire or princess auto you could get an engine for less than 150 one thing you need a transmission if you want to use a sprocket and chain

I couldn't find much on CanadianTire.com but I went to PrincessAuto.com and the had some 5hp hydraulic pump engines and I was wandering if you know if that would work or if any one knows if it will work.

go to http://www.buildyourowngokart.com/ they have good plans

-- Danny (zinger211us@yahoo.com), December 01, 2003.

Northern Tool and Equipment have the cheapest prices on clutches and other go-kart needs. For free plans go to ( buildyourowngokart.com ) riding lawn mowers offer a good base. They have big tires, a transmission, steering and brakes. I picked one up for $50.00 and just built a frame from the buildyourowngokarts it is really simple.

I built the frame from scratch using no blue prints or plans and it goes real hard now!

Any one looking for FREE off road kart plans should go to www.jmhkarts.com/proplans.html however this kart does not have suspension but can easily be modded to include suspension.

Could anyone else who is willing to send me a copy of free plans let me no via email please.
