Go to www.dona.org and look in the certification area. It will explain all the steps in becoming certified. That is the most commom way to become a certified doula. DONA is only one of the organizations availabe but I believe the most popular. That is who I am being certified through. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any other questions. -Ali Okc doula-in-training DONA

Rose, you can go to Rachel Gurevich's e-book called FebJob.com's Guide To Becoming a Doula. She did some thorough research on this and is non-judgemental.

Check out CAPPA at http://www.cappa.net. It is the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, and we have five different certification options, as well as two pathways to becoming a doula including the only distance doula program available. It is an excellent program if you can't get to a CAPPA Labor Doula Training. CAPPA gives you mor for your money, and also has scholarships if you qualify.

Email if you'd like more information or see CAPPA's website. Best to you, Kristine Owens CLD CD CLE http://www.kristineowens.com
