How many years will a goat be productive and produce milk? Is a 5 year old goat considered over-the-hill? What is the life span of a goat? I am considering a purchase of an older goat, and need to decide if it's worth doing.

Answers

A doe at 5 is at her prime if she's been well taken care of. I have seen does as old as 12-14 years old still kidding and producing well. That is exceptional, but still, a five year old has plenty of years ahead of her.
