ok, here goes. I used an audio recompression agent then avivcd2 to turn my avi files into mpeg files.After burning them to cd-r using nero, when i played them in my dvd player the audio was fine , but the video came appears in still photos, changing ever 5 seconds. Apperantly this it a common problem, according to where i got the avivcd2 program (http://www.mnsi.net/~jschlic1/) they have a message stating that this problem would be fixed when divx has a different codec out, after the 5.02 version. Does anyone know if this problem has been fixed? Also i used another program to encode my avi files i downloaded from i mesh, but it wont work, it always says not supported or this is not an avi fil, very confused and frustrated, an anyone help, PLEASE!!!

DivX is hard to encode from. Your best bet is to re-encode the DivX AVI file to something that is lossless (such as HuffyUV or raw AVI) using Virtualdub, and encode that file. It also gives you the advantage of using Virtualdub's built in filters to tweak the video.

This takes a lot of disk space. I would suggest at least 100GB free space to do this conversion, more if your video runs over 90 minutes. It's the process I use to go from one incompatible format to another. It may require a lot of computer resources, but it gives good results.
