I have experienced same problem with the addition of the video being a mirror image

I haven't worked with DivX in a year or Xvid at all. However, I did read on another forum that this happens sometimes when converting Xvid or DivX. The suggested solution was to use Virtual Dub to flip the image prior to encoding. I find this to be really bizarre. I've never read an explanation as to why this happens.

This is a well known bug in Nero. You have to use another software for MPEG-1 conversion (TMPGEnc, of course) and THEN use Nero for burning.

Nero's internal routines are bad for converting...

I had the same problem so I used Virtual Dub (freeware) and cchanged the movie from XVID to DIVX4, it came out great. You can choose wich codec to use it doesnt have to be DIVX4. PS it won't work with AC3 sound.

William, can you please tell us more about how to use the VirtualDud? I got the software but have no idea how to change the codec.

the image is upside down because your player (SVCD/DVD player that is) does not support xvid codecs it only supports divx (note divX- Xvid) its backwards!) the thing about xvid is that divx codecs read them back to front and upside down. You need a program to convert the movie files codec from xvid to divx so that your player understands... or use virtualdub to flip it beforehand like the other guy said.... (ahem) :)

Iam sure this is an old question, but i thought i shld contribute as others may want answers too. i think all considered, the best programm that is needed is the ACE mega codec pack, which may be found at http://www.soft32.com/download_3916.html. take out xvid. this upside down movie playback problem is only found in winxp. w2k does not seem to mind at all. good lucky.
