earth as the Ultimate Fashion Statement

There is, in my opinion, no better way to clear a room or illiit bileous, angry responses from people than throwin on earth 2 and crankin it up. This brings me to my question: Who wants to share a story of earth's presence on the ol' stereo in a social env. of non Earth-listeners?

I have tried a couple of times to get people into Earth, without success. I think the record so far is about a minute and a half before you hear "But, it's like, the same thing over and over again".

I love to crank up Either Earth 2 or Phase 3 for people who only listen to pop music and the whole "verse, chorus, verse" style of song writing ---- the reactions I get are usually people kind of freaking out and having to leave the room !! Earth 2 usually makes my windows shake, and tends to drive people a little nuts ;)

Earth 2 is awesome record. I have to admit I didn't like it when I first bought it, but the more I listened to it the better it sounded (listening to it right now on WinAmp). The titles to the songs are so cool, and I love that picture on inside of the album case underneath where the CD goes. Show that one to people if you want to freak them out. For some reason that photo goes well with the buddhas, pills, and dental picture. (German Dental Work?). From Phase 3 the best songs are Tibetan Quaaludes and Thrones and Dominions IMHO...

ive managed to convert 3 of my friends over the years.not easy, mostly it just freaks people out when i play it especially earth 2.a good way to end a party and make people go home. so much fun to watch the expression of horror on peoples faces when there coming down off drugs.

I've played Earth to alot of people - mixed reactions - only a couple really liked it and became "fans".

Most of the people I know expect to hear lots of different music when they come to my house, and generally music they won't like!

Honestly, the only people ive turned on to Earth 2 were those friends who smoked copious amounts of weed and downers. well, Earth really is that kind of band that could by all rights use the slogan, " Made by Druggies, for druggies". Of course it takes more than an altered state to attain an appreciation of the angle the music comes from, but, as most of you will probably admit, it helps :) ' also, it seems like the point of the music starts to click as soon as you turn the decibels to a point which is capable of illiciting bowel movements, disruptions on your local seismograph.... etc.... its a treat to see someone nodding their head and smiling as soon as " teeth of lions rule the divine" starts shifting vibrtating furniture across the room.

If all of Earth's fans were, as you say, "druggies" - I'd be a bit fucking disappointed ...

it's not all about drugs, but there is nothing like listening to seven angels or lullaby when stoned.

i personally like to play people "ripped on facsist ideas". they usually just pretend to understand why it'sgood, then they go home and listen to sleater kinney. hehe

I recently gave a friend of mine a CD I had made of what I thought were the eight most "accessible" Earth songs. He said he kind of liked Geometry of Murder but said, "why doesn't it have lyrics?" ::rolls eyes:: He did agree to jam with me on this song sometime, as well as on High Command. Well, it's a start! I have a hard enough time getting people I know to listen to Kyuss, Lowrider, Thrones, or Mudhoney. Most of them just want to listen to mainstream metal and rock again and again. I don't think you have to be a druggie to like Earth, though being on drugs can certainly help you appriciate some of the slooooooowwww songs. I was thinking about that other thread where someone mentioned Earth doing Nirvana covers...not a good idea, but maybe they could do Sleater-Kinney covers instead, or vice-versa..or have Dylan and Corrin Tucker do a collaboration. Heh heh heh. It's too late and I've had too much to drink.

i first heard earth on a documentry! they contributed the music coz courtney love would licence music by nirvana! IM MY OPINION THE BEST THING THE STUPID COW HAS EVER DUN! coz the music i heard by earth was brillient n right now im totally hooked! im tryin like mad to get hold of as much earth material as possible but not to much sucess! but i do worry bout the state of carlson! who was stated "living wit a dealer" n looked rather fucked outta his brains when on camera! i hope he gets his shit together n carries on making greatr music! n the music pro for the band absolutly ROCKED!

I do dj stints at my local pub from time to time. Its always good to end the night with Seven Angels. Helps the staff get the punters to clear out a little faster and the few mates I have that like Earth appreciate it
