REG: dvd standard, I have a question...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I understand the dvd standard for a video stream is 720x480 mpeg2. My question is, what if i have a 352x240 mpeg1 6bit video stream... Can i use that for dvd authoring as is? or do I have to convert to mpeg2 and lose quality in the process since the image will be stretched and resized with tmpgenc? Daniel

No problem with your resolution or it being MPEG-1. I read somewhere that there is a limit to the bit rate for MPEG-1 video on DVD, but yours is probably OK. You will have to convert the audio to 48 KHz if it's at 44. http://www.vcdhelp.com has a guide on doing this.
