replacement of a knee replacement

I would like to ask if anyone has had a replacement of a knee replacement and how successful was it? Was the surgery as painful as the original replacement? Thank you.

I am a 46 year old from Calif. I had been very active all my life and due to sports related injuries have had a total of 15 knee surgeries over a 19 year period. I had my right knee replaced 10 years ago, and then one year ago had it re-replaced. I am still in considerable pain (the left was a tkr on sept 4, 2001) from both knees. The 2nd replacement of the right knee was much more painful and took longer to recover. My surgeon says that what he calls a "revision" is much more traumatic to a previously replaced joint. I am still unable to work due to a pain level of between 6 and 8 on a daily basis. Please talk to your doctor and be completely sure that you are ready for all it entails.
