We dont often see cabooses anymore, but there is a recently painted CSX caboose running daily in N. Charleston, SC on the end of a daily cement train. Colors are as per CSX engines and it is right attractive.mw

We also have a CSX caboose that runs out of Thomasville on the local to Perry, Florida. It is in CSX colors with the windows blanked out. There is also a Family Lines painted caboose in Thomasville yard that is never used and is in pretty good condition.

Hey there. CSX also uses them on a few trains that run on the S-Line N of Savannah, GA. I've seen it once on a unit coal but they mainly stick to the mix frieghts that do switching on the way up and down. Later! Jason

They are no longer called cabooses on CSX.They are now "shoving platforms".Just a safe place for a crew member to be while making reverse moves,common in industrial switching.

CSXT also operates a caboose on the Parmale sub from Rocky Mount to Kinston, via Greenville, NC. It's painted in Soo colors (not much color left!). I understand that it is used to facilitate some switching moves at the DuPont plant in Kinston.
