DS54 and Switchmaster Switch Machine Resitors

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Wiring for DCC : One Thread

I wired 1.2K resistors on a SwitchMaster switch machine which is driven by a DS54 (as suggested).

I'm using a 12.6 VAC input to the external power supply input on the DS54.

The torque of the motor cracked the paddle on the Rix Rax mounting bracket where it is attached to the shaft.

What value should I use for the resistors--or how can I determine the correct value without destroying any more Rix Brackets?

Any time you are trying to determine a resistor value you can get a variable resistor or potentiometer at radio shack (try a 10K), turn it to the highest resistance, then turn it down as you apply voltage until you get the effect you want. then measure the resistance you have set and use the closest available value for your fixed resistor. The same method works on lamps, led's, motors, etc.
