Land Registry : LUSENET : Repossession : One Thread

I have just spoken to Land Registry, regarding information on property prices in my area back in 1998. They suggested that I contact the main office in London, should my local Land Registry be able to supply me with these details. I know a cost would be involved.

Cheers David

Not at all sure why you choose to enquire locally through the Land Registry. The office that deals with your region may not be anywhere near you! For some reason, perhaps war damage, or economic, the details of properties are held somewhere else in the country. The London office brings all the regions together on its database (I think but check).

Locally you should visit your local studies library. The local papers for that date will list the asking prices of properties. Compare these with for 'average'prices.

Good luck.

PS Don't trust an estate agent to tell you, as they will only provide inflated asking prices in the current market.

Hi David, I was looking for searches regarding Land registry, and found them within one week of purchasing a property,by paying a small fee to my solicitor, she was able to do the searches much quicker than contacting London myself.Hope this might be of some help to you.
