Stereotypes are beliefs about the attributes of groups of people. Often they are based on gender, or race/ethnicity, or religion. If you want to learn more about them, take classes in social psychology, the psychology of gender, psychology of ethnicity and culture. You'll find lots of information in textbooks on those topics, as well as in a basic encyclopedie of psychology.
