Carousels in San Francisco 1870s

greenspun.com : LUSENET : San Francisco History : One Thread

Where can I get information about carousels that may have existed in San Francisco between 1865 and 1885? It is said that an ancestor of mine operated one.

Dear Charles: Go to the Western Neighborhoods Project Website. There you can contact Warren Crandell. Warren is the great nephew of the Whitney Brothers who owned Playland. He's collecting all sorts of info on the carosels for a documentary on them and also is a huge source of knowledge himself. He can direct you to other websites and information I'm sure.

Good to have you back, Louise. I am writing an article about the Ingleside Jockey houses for WNP, but Woody hasn't responded...
