What are the differences of firewire and i.link? I have a sony camera with i.link. Are the two compatible? Are there video cards that will work with the i.link cable.

Sony offers a product EZ Editor DV? The ad says it has the ability to connect to PC with IEEE 1394 PCI board and cable (i.LINK/FireWire compatible)

If i understand correctly,

Firewire = i.link = IEEE 1394

all the same thing, different names, cause up until recently firewire was a trademarked name (of apple?)

Exactly correct. And SB1394 is Creative Labs' version of the same thing (on the Audigy cards).
