Bulk sesame seeds where kept in storage, it is unknown what the conditions were of the storage (temp). Rodents were present in warehouse.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

It is unclear from your question if you are interested in the seeds for propagation or for consumption. If you are intending to sell them as food, I would check with the department of agriculture. If rodents were present, their may be health issues.

If you are asking about the best conditions for storage of seeds to prolong their viability, cold and dry are the key.

You can do a simple germination test to check the seed that you have. Get a piece of paper towel, set it on a plate, wet it, count out 100 seeds and lay them out on the paper towel. Cover with another paper towel, moisten it, and place another plate (this one upside down so that the rims of the bottom and top plates are touching - like the shape of a flying saucer).

Keep this in a warm location (like the top of the refrigerator in your kitchen) and after a week or so, count the number of seeds that germinated. This will give you a simple germination rate (not taking into account issues like vigor or disease).

I hope that this helps.
