video cd 2.0 software

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

The toshiba sd-1800 plays cd-r, cd-rw, mp3 files and VCD's. The VCD's however, must be made with video cd 1.1 or 2.0. I tried several different programs that did not play until I found a program called pictureToTV. In the faqs for this product it states the software is compatible with any video cd 2.0 compatible player. I downloaded a demo and it works fine. The program is available as a download only and costs $50. If you want to check it out go to http://www.picturetotv.com/ Thanks for your responses

I regularly use Philips VCD Toolkit 2.0 to author and build my VCD titles (with professional looking results rivalling commercial quality VCds). Old legacy software I know, but its a professional approach to doing it. Because the software absolutely requires your files to be Video CD 2.0 Compliant (it won't accept anything else), your resultant product is guaranteed to work on all VCD capable machines. Furthermore, because this software is not being sold anymore, it is freeware (download from www.vcdhelp.com; do a search for it on the site!) Anyone who is interested in learning exactly how these interactive DVDs and SVCDs are put together should give this a go. Its an excellent learning curve towards authoring full featured interactive DVDs.
