Blue Flame Exhausts....ARE THEY WORTH it? HELP!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

First off, this message site is awesome. I just got my F4 this past June, and this bike is such an amazing whip. I'm sure you all agree. It is beyond cool to find all these MV ethusiasts all in one place helping each other. I was planning to buy a Blue Flame underseat system when I came upon the responses here. Just wanted some more opinions. Does anyone have the exhausts installed? Any personal pics of them? How are the power gains? Hows the sound and is it worth it? And lastly, where the heck do u buy one if your from the U.S.? If someone could help out, that would be great! Also, are their any MV/Ducati riders in the NYC area here in the US? Thanks again!

I've heard their fit isn't so good, and I personally don't like the fact that they sort of negate the "fender" that the stock pipe has. The computer is right there above that plastic plate...

I'm not from the NYC area, but I'm a fellow IBMer. We even have a guy from STK that has the nerve to show up here! HA HA.

Live in Rockland County and have put 8000 miles on my F4 since Oct00. Installed the RG3 system with chip. Same as on the Senna. Tops!!

I wouldn't mess with anything else. Made expressly for MV by Arrow and looks exactly like stock.

I PREFER THE SILMOTOR EXHAUST BECAUSE THE QUALITY IS MUCH BETTER COMPARED TO THE BLUE FLAME. I HAVE FITTED THE SILMOTOR EXHAUST TO MY F4 2000 EARLY MODEL WITH ONE RADIATOR LIKE THE ORO VERSION. I HAVE ALSO FITTED AN EPROM MADE IN GERMANY BY BB POWER.IN THAT CONFIGURATION THE ENGINE IS CRISPER AT LOW AND MEDIUM REVS THE MAXIMUM POWER IS 5 OR 7 HP MORE. THE SOUND IS VERY LOUD AND YOU NEED EAR PLUGS IF YOU INTEND TO TRAVEL FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES AT HIGH REVS. BUT THE MAJOR INTEREST IS THE DECREASE OF THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE DUE TO THE VERY LOW RESTRICTION OF THE EXHAUST. AS THE BODY OF THE SILENCERS ARE MADE OF CARBON THE TEMPERATURE IS VERY LOW COMPARED TO THE ORIGINAL SILENCER MADE OF STAINLESS STEEL AND SO ALL THE SEAT AREA IS MUCH COOLER. IT IS BETTER FOR THE COMFORT OF THE PILOT AND FOR THE RELIABILITY OF THE FUEL INJECTION COMPUTER.

I looked at the Blue Flame exhausts and they look cheap, which is no good for an MV. They were laughed at by my local MV dealer too.

Andy, the day IBM win some business from me, I will stop using this site, ha ha ha...

I have the blue flames on my TL.. They are.. ok.. They are real loud and look cool, but the Blue Flame logos are actaully metal stickers which is crap. Also the metal bands that hold the pipes are poop. I wanted something different and when I got them, Micron didn't make the multicolor pipes yet. I wish I got the scorpion or them Micron pipes instead. They did add almost 8hp throughout the power band though..

Richard, I have blueflame and they are OK. Slightly better than stock as the are less restictive, especially with a chip upgrade. On the dyno I got about 5bhp at the wheel increase. That's from what I consider to be a poor performer for a classy 750. All work under the seat is fiddly, but once you've done it 2 or 3 times it is easy (15 minutes). As for sound they are awesome - worht it for the price. I wasn't too impressed with their EPROM, but it added to the power slightly. Prefer my SPR the dogs blox above 4k rpm but a bit lump below that. Buy them for the sound, and remember to wear ear protection (and your riding friends too!) go to www.blueflameperformance.com ask for Nigel Leeming

i have the blueflame underseat exhaust on my 01 r6. power gains were decent, and sound is super awesome. fitting is a bit iffy, but other than that i have no complaints. Definitely a unique exhaust and draws a lot of attention cause of their wicked look. Main reason im holding on to mine is because they are no longer manufactured and the only place you are gonna see them is on the internet. So whoever has them is lucky so dont get rid of them. especialy if u live in U.S. me i live in cali and no one has ever seen them other than on the net.

blue flame is still up & running and the new evo road legal race cans rock..same powa as a race can but comply with noise limits.also they got removable baffles so u can still have the crazy noise..i got 1 & they are nicer than most the other cans.. alex..UK

Well, i meant that the blueflame underseat exhaust is no longer manufactured. i seen the new cans bf has, and they sound superb and are great. i would most definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice looking can, decent power gains, and great sound.

Man i have a blue-flame exhaust system fitted to my 2004 suzuki bandit 600 and I must say it was alot more than I had expected. I have only recently put it onto my bike. its sounds more than great and the performace is so unbelievable. I put it onto the bike thinking it was not going to make much of a difference to the bike both sound and performance ways but was i wrong. the only thing was that the mounting bracket was too big for my bike but with a little moddification it was sweet.
