Fuel Tank Removal

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

Will someone tell me how to remove the fuel tank on the F4... It looks like it just pivots upwards towards the front of the bike, but I don't want to take a chance and break anything.

Yes, be careful my STK friend. Apparently there is a line under the tank that is either brittle or too short or whatever that can break easily and leak fuel down on the engine. I haven't tried this but it's been discussed here before. Be careful, and possibly order this part ahead of time unless your dealer already changed it.

Thanks Andy. My bike has been taken apart many times by dealers for warranty work, so I suspect this has been done. I will check though. (9940 rules, I think you will find...)

Remove seat & fairings, remove one each side `c` shaped brackets that locate onto frame (3bolts each),remove bridge piece over battery, now this is where you need two pairs of hands, lift tank up slowly and get second person to remove the quick release fuel lines, the breather pipe and the elec plug-be wary of trying this by yourself because fuel tank could topple over-the less fuel in it the easier it is-hope this helps Mike

Cheers Mike. I am just off to grow some extra arms.
