What parts of the Wundtian project were accepted and what parts were not? What are some reasons for this?

Wundt research program was very complex and far reaching. There were reaction-time studies, introspection studies, the "folk-psychology," and extensive philosophical interests (such as a 2-volume work on ethics). I would start by looking at a good history of psychology textbook. See also Blumenthal's and Danziger's articles on Wundt from the 1970s and 1980s. Also, Bob Rieber's book on Wundt, as well as Ash & Woodward's _Psychology in nineteenth century thought_.
