Looking for info on Baldwin Builders Plate 41651

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Southern Railway : One Thread

I have a builders plate from a Balwind Locomotives Works, Philadelphia, 41651, dated August, 1914. It was given to me years ago and I was told it was originally a Baldwin locomotive, forget what type, built for Russia. Before shipping, the Russian Revolution occurred, and the order/shipment cancelled. Southern Railway then purchased. I'm looking to find out more information on the history of this builder's plate, etc. and would appreciate being pointed in the right direction for research. Thanks.

http://www.floridamemory.com/PhotographicCollection/ There's a little information at our website. It mentions the Brooks Scanlon Lumber Company as opposed to the Southern Railway though. I'm not sure but you may be able to contact the website's department.
