Surviving the holidays

Attention!

Since our fearless leader seems to have gone permanently fishing, I thought I would take up the gavel and use my cat herding expertise to bring this meeting to order.

There are a couple of questions before the bored at present (there's a straightman's gift for the jokers in the crowd ;). First - how are you surviving the holiday preparations so far? Second - are there any fiat fruitcakes for which we need to find the source and delete? And the second second question is ;) has anyone seen the stealth geese lately??

My husband tells me that while he was working at a town 100 miles south of here he saw lots of geese that seem to have lost what little brain they were blessed with and needed to be informed as to which way was south.

I 'finished' the Christmas present buying - except for the ones I've forgotten and have to find last minute :-)

Today was hectic, but lovely. I went to the early church service, so that I could meet a group of friends for brunch. Then I had a ticket to go to the Christmas concert by ProCoro Canada - a professional choral group. Then it was home to cook supper for the family - our first family meal in a loooong time.

I wish you all well during this busy time of year!

I overlooked the stealth goose.... As opposed to overcookin' the turkey, which came out fine.

Coldn't find 'em. He might be sousth already for winter.

Hi Tricia! I had an acquaintance ask me today if I was ready for Christmas. My reply? "Yes, I've done the most important thing to get ready for Christmas. I don't have everything done yet but I'm ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus."

How did the birth of a tiny yet infinitely Precious baby turn into a 'wish list' of what we must have to be happy?

My hope is that each of my FRL friends (and Mr. Frankenstein) enjoy the real Christmas! Jesus, born a baby, lived a sinless life, and yet died for us so that we could have a rich and fulfilled relationship with God and eternal life! What a gift!

Hi Tricia, you must be incredibly organized to have finished your present buying already. I am the worlds biggest procrastinator and have bought one present so far. I don't even promise myself that I will do better next year anymore because I know I wont. I wonder how the others are faring at this busy time. I'd be willing to bet that I'm the most disorganized, but it all usually comes together on the day. Cheers.

Hehehe Carol! Depending on the year and what's going on in the rest of my life will depend on how organized I am for Christmas! I intensely dislike malls, and crowds, mostly because I worked in a mall in another lifetime, and the site I worked at had over one million visits from humans the first year of operation! I figure I've done my "time". Fortunately this year, I got all my presents by November 30th! Unfortunately, I have barely scratched the surface when it comes to my baking want-to's! I have only wrapped the presents that I mailed off and Christmas morning usually finds me STILL wrapping!

Then this week, I volunteered to cater a Christmas cocktail party for 30 this Sunday (I gotta learn to stop volunteering!). Stay tuned, I may get Christmas cookies baked yet! :) I was hoping folks would share some of their recipes on the thread I started, but alas....

And no Tricia, I haven't seen wing nor feather, nor beak of the stealth geese!

Oh Aunt Bee, catering a cocktail party for 30 people. That would be enough to send me into hibernation for a year. Just having to attend a party with that many people freaks me out (social recluse here). As for catering it, I truly admire your courage and hope it all goes to plan. Best of luck.
