What freedoms are we about to lose and how will it affect our lives personally

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Freedom! self reliance : One Thread

I hear and read about losing freedoms. And because I don't get out and about much , I don't see a lot that goes on outside my little world .So I don't notice much of a loss in my freedoms lately. Not much different than a few years ago.

Still , it concerns me to hear others say we are loosing freedoms , because even if it doesn't directlty affect me now , eventually it will . I'm sure there are many folks who don't get out much either and aren't aware of the loss of freedoms that some may be already experiencing.

So how can people react to the words " Losing our Freedoms " without specific details that give an image in their minds of the reality of how this loss of freedom will directly affect their life.

If I were to want to do my part to help perserve freedoms by spreading the word to neighbors , all I'd be able to say is 'We're losing our freedoms ". If they shot back the questain , " what does that mean and how will it directly affect us in a negative way " the conversation on the subject would most likely end.

So this brings me to wonder what specific events are happening to people that are infringing on their freedoms lately that weren't happening before all these losses of freedom ?

What specific freedoms are people lossing ? I ask because I don't know... I'm believing I'm not the only one going through life ignorantly bliss , and maybe others have the same questain but don't want to ask.

If anyone post topics of the loss of freedoms, if possible be specific on how it may personally affect us.It could make the difference of your post being an effective tool in the maintenance of freedom.

Are Americans "free"? How do you measure your so-called "freedom"? Can you make a list of things that are not regulated, permitted, overseen, forbidden, taxed or somehow controlled by government? Can you walk to the mailbox naked without facing the possibility of going to jail for simply that? Do you own your own home? Really? Won't government take it away from you if you don't pay up as required? I say that freedom in America is an illusion. It is an illusion kept alive by waving a flag and chanting "I am free." We think we are free when we think of the former Soviet Union or some present day country where the inhabitants live in fear. Fear of losing "freedom" is a good thing. Perhaps we need to look more closely at this thing we call "freedom". Maybe we might see that what we so lovingly refer to as "freedom" simply means that our chains are a little longer than the chains of the dogs next door.

Zen , I said this in my post above : "What freedoms are we about to lose and how will it affect our lives personally " . I also wrote " So , I don't notice much of a loss in my freedoms lately. Not much different than a few years ago".

I hear that we're gonna lose freedoms with new security laws . It's apparent to me the freedoms we don't have already , I was just wondering what freedoms that we still have ,that are going to be removed from U.S. citizens.

I sometimes questain the taking away freedoms from people.I find most people to be violent , barbaric and revenge-ful , but pretend to be civilized.Even Buddist . Drive on any of the interstate highways in the U.S. and you get to see the barbaric nature of human beings.Or after a hurricane at a store that sells emergency supplies that are in demand but short supply .

I believe if most humans were given the opportunity , they'd become a dictator of their own country and charge taxes and would want people to serve them. .I find that people like to be dominant not equals , in most dealings.People always want the upper hand ..And from close observation of human behavior combined with an out going personality ( strong ego , strong will ) I can master this domination game if I choose. It's a screwed up game and I won't play it.But that doesn't mean I can't get tangled up in the crap from the ones who are playing this game.

I've found when I've had the so called upper hand in dealings with people and I lowered my guard and became equals , there was always someone ready to take the upper hand and dominate. So are the humans rules , dominate or be dominated ? Should the ones in power lower their guard and give freedoms to people who will take the advantage of the freedom to try to gain dominace ?

I also questain the motives of people who cry for freedom , and wonder maybe they have freedom and power confused and maybe it's more power people want , not more freedom.

I'm just trying to make a proper assessment of the so called " Struggle for Freedom ".
