I would appreciate any info on the San Francisco City Hall that was destroyed in 1906. Was it on the current spot of the present City Hall? Thank You very much.

The City Hall that was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake stood where the new Main Public Library stands.

It was the only major building destroyed by the earthquake. The rest of the buildings were destroyed by fire. Shoddy workmenship was given as the reason.

City Hall Avenue was a diagonal running from Larkin across what is now UN Plaza to Fulton Street. If you look at the Scientology building on Fulton and the UN Cafe in the Plaza and the Wells Fargo Parking lot on Larkin you get an idea of its path.
