I heard that when a volcanoe erupts on the other side of the world our climate can be effected. How is this possable?

I think that if there is a major eruption, the ash and all the pollution can travel a great distance in the atmosphere. The pollution in the air can cause the sun's energy to be absorbed or reflected and that can result in lower temperatures in other parts of the world. If there were no volcanic eruptions, the worlds average temperatures would probably be a lot higher. I THINK!! :)
