Many good routes in Perak:

The road from Tapah to Kuala Dipang passes by the Lata Kinjang waterfall. It's about 30km through leafy rolling terrain, and virtually traffic-free. Among the best stretches of road I've ridden in Malaysia.

The road north from Kuala Kangsar to Grik is apparently very nice. There are many subsidiary roads coming off this main road which should also be very rustic and low in traffic.

The road south west from Kuala Kangsar heading towards Parit is very scenic. There are in fact 2 roads, on either side of the mighty Perak river.

Near Ipoh, there are lots of small roads that see little traffic: eg the Tambun road that goes to Tanjung Rambutan, the road that passes Kellies' Castle to Batu Gajah etc.

Stay off Route 1 and the coastal road between Teluk Intan and Sabak Bernam. These are death traps. Get a good map; the best are the state road map series, which should be available from book stores. Use this in conjunction with a Physical map of the peninsualr (1:500,000 scale available from the Govt mapping department), which will show the major hills.

Go to Lumut. take the boat ride to pangkor. only cost Rm 6 for you and your bike with return ticket. but only on the road ride but scenery is wonderful. BOB
