vdc is half speed

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I just recorded a program with my new ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 7500. It recorded in the vcr format which I exported to Mp2. Using Ulead VideoStudio 5.0, I converted it to vcd mpeg. The output file, however, plays at half speed. The original and the mp2 files both work normally. Any ideas? Thanks

You're really not doing yourself any favors by converting MPEG-2 to MPEG-1. Both are lossy codecs and frankly you'd probably be better off and have fewer problems if you would just record using the VCD template with your ATI card. I have no idea why the file is half speed. Maybe the encode to MPEG-1 went wrong. I also don't recommend recording in VCR format either as you should just record in whatever final format you need to begin with and save yourself a lot of headache.
