Who would you have play Aeon?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Aeon Flux : One Thread

I'm sure this question has been asked many times before (I'm pretty sure I *might* have a survey or two of this on the internet), but for the past few weeks or so, I can't help thinking WHO would be the ideal actress to play AEon if ever a live movie were to be made... Of course this is all for abit of fun, but some names that came to mind were possibly the actress who plays "Nina Van Horne" on "Just Shoot Me" or maybe a slightly toned down Angelina Jolie...

Just wanted to know want everyone else's opinion was on the matter...

I think Francoise Yip, chinese/french actress, evil girl in Black. Mask. Although thats probably just me.

How about Linda Fiorentino, she seems to have a femme fatal type cast going on. Her voice in particular seems appropriate.

i think alanis morrisette, angelina jolie, or the actress from the movie "whipped" , with a little hair dye, would be great to play aeon

-- reid millns (millnsreid@aol.com), November 07, 2002.

There is a Dutch model named Ingrid Seynhaeve whose body is an exact match for Aeon's. Would LOVE to see her done up in Aeon's gear.... If you're unfamiliar with her, there should be numerous images of her available online....

Don't You think that Melinda Clarke would also suit. I think she's even better than Famke.

Is this forum dead?

-- Asef (usubovasef@hotmail.com), November 30, 2002.

no way, i think peta wilson would be perfect, you know nikita from the USA show. stick some black hair dye, and some heavy duty bees wax

-- mercedes redmon (izzy_goddess@excite.com), February 07, 2003.

I think that Nadja Auermann (german top-model) would be perfect , I remember her with black hair (she is naturaly blonde) in a Gucci presentation , and she looked almost like a real life Aeon! , however , she is a model , I have no idea if she has some acting skills. If I have to think in some actress , well... Famke Jensen would be a good choice , Natasha Henstridge would work too , I think.

On a related subject , Jeremy Irons would be great for playing Trevor , Lance Henrikssen (not sure about the speling) , would be good too.

I think Lara Flynn Boyle would be the absolute perfect Aeon. She totally looks like her. Not just the uber thinness either. Liv Tyler would also be a good Aeon Flux

-- Ryan Hoskins (ChocoDippedRyan@hotmail.com), March 03, 2003.

id have to agree on Lara Flynn Boyle. if anyone was made in Aeon's own image it would most deffinately be her. anyone who doesnt think so should see Men In Black 2.

I hate to over work the fine phrase "vomit in terror," but...

Flat out and dead honest, any attempt to convert Aeon Flux into live action will be a horrific failure. This will extend to the casting. Liv Tyler would be just about right - that is, she'll be exactly the sort roped into the train wreck.

I just wanted to mention in passing to any comic book fans out there that Peta Wilson's career is about to flatline - she's set to star in the upcoming League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. LoEG is a magnificent comic by the peerles Alan Moore, which is going to tank bigger than 'The Postman' when it reaches the big screen. Peta will star as Mina Murray along side Sean Connery as Alan Quartermain and the astonishingly vapid Stuart Townsend as Dorian Grey. The redeeming features of this movie - Connery has, esentially, been playing Quartermain for the last thirty years, and will be very good at it. Also, for the first time in cinematic history, someone has actually read 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo will be played by an Indian. (N.B. Of course, Alan Moore did the reading. The Hollywood schmucks can just rip it out of the comic.)

1. yeah, Lara FLynn Boyle 2. Famke Janssen

Peter himself has expressed a preference for Janssen. I think LFB has the better likeness, but I've never seen her in a physical enough role. Janssen was in XMen, but didn't actually do much in the way of action. Maybe they could do a CGI double for all the gymnastic scenes. It worked for the Mystique character in X-Men (Rebecca Ramijn- Stamos, or something like that). IMHO the CGI double of Spiderman wasn't convincing enough. Of course, Aeon FLux is more "exposed" as a flesh and blood human, in her rather skimpy constume. Maybe if the Priduction Design was like "Flash Gordon" (the movie with the Queen music) a lot these problems would go away, especailly in the transition from cartoon to live-action.

ladies & Gentlemen,

I think whoever it's it has to be a beatiful intelligent & strong woman (personally I'd love to see an entirely new&fresh face). can anybody help me please - I'm trying to remember one of old action movies (end of 80s I suppose). The only thing I remember two assasins wearing as women with personal touch - putting cards with symbol of quin on their victims after killing them, two ninjas, an astonishing woman in underwear with big gun kiling one of them, a hulky black guy (karate man) and the same pretty woman exploding the main "bad guy" with grenade cup discharge. Your help would be highly appreciated. And who do You think would be best for "Shi" character. Tia Carrere - I think is not such a good idea.

-- Asef (usubovasef@hotmail.com), April 09, 2003.

Welly welly well. I think Famke Janssen is just perfect for the role. I agree with those who said Lara Flynn Boyle fits the role, but Famke Janssen is just an Aeon clone. They have the same face!!!

On the other hand, I think that find a n actor to play Trevor will be a little difficult. If Charlie Watts could act...

-- Sebastian Murano (Capitan_gloval@hotmail.com), April 28, 2003.

Nooooo! No popstars. Bulk Samantha Mathis up an' have HER play AOEN. Fave actress, can think of non better fo' hairstyle reconstruction. Or Julianne Moore, who apparently is a SUPERWOMAN whho can do ANYTING. REAL ACTORESSESSES! Thas' the spirit!!!!!!!!

I have an alternative idea.

I've always seen AF as a postmodern commentary on Hollywood cliche storytelling (the original MTV shorts anyway) eg. the hero always survives, setups will always be paid off, the moral centre always lies with the protagonist etc. So any AF movie, in my mind, needs to retain this essential rebellious edge, along with a certain "cult movie" flavour (as opposed to your typical Hollywood mainstream appeal).

So with this subversive streak in mind, and AF being the amoral antihero that she is, I suggest casting an adult porn actress.

Not that I'm saying such a film should be a porno flick. Far from it. It's just that such an actress would bring the role a desirable dose of notoriety. Out of all the porn actresses out there, surely there must be a few castable ones who can actually act?

I heard that Traci Lords has now starred in over 100 "straight" films. She's probably not right for the part but there must be other ex-porn stars wanting to make the crossover and who were serious enough to actually enroll in acting classes.

Also, I doubt that you'd ever talk a mainstream actress like Famke Janssen into wearing AF's costume for close to 2 hours of screentime. An ex-"adult" actress might be more willing.

And another thing about that costume: there's a big possibility it would just look silly in a live action movie. Unless... everybody in the movie dressed that way. Imagine, a cast of hundreds, all wearing g-strings and cod pieces! Call Jean Paul Gaultier, there's another scifi costume designer's job waiting for ya!

What do you think about Tera Patrick. May be she'd be OK. And please somebody answer to my questions above.

Milla Jovovich Milla Jovovich, would work really well.

I'd definitely go w/ Famke Jansen; although I wouldn't be disappointed w/ Lara Flynn Boyle. However people you have to remember Hollywood hardly ever picks actors for roles in a comic book adaptation of a movie based on weather or not they fit the given comic book description.

Take for example most recently Wolverine in X-men 1 & 2. Hugh Jackman good pick for an actor to play the part. Even looks like Wolverine. Only problem is he's to tall. He stands at 6'1", but the comic book Wolverine is 5"3'. Guess Joe Pesci didn't wanna bulk up for the role.

They might end up picking an unknown like they did for Superman. That was the casting director's call. The producers didn't want Christopher Reeve.

We the fans might want Famke Jansen, but the likelihood is that production problems and money cause to get somebody else.

And I doubt anybody out there is willing to boycott the movie if we don't get Boyle or Jansen.

Janssen or Boyle, Boyle or Jansseen?

Ha! These 2 already have a history of being interchangeable. Apparently Janssen was originally cast to play the Alien Bitch in Men In Black II. At the last minute she had to cancel, so they got Boyle instead. All those costumes/makeup tests/etc that were originally designed for JAnssen, Boyle slotted right in.

-- Tim (timothyc@actrix.co.nz), May 07, 2003.

Most definitely Angelina Jolie or Laura Flynn Boyle. Famke Jansen's features are too soft! Laura looks almost exactly like Aeon, yet Angelina seems to have grasped the essence of Aeon. I remember recently watching the Jay Leno show on which he was interviewing Jolie, and I thought to myself - wow, she is SO much like Aeon. So I guess the best thing would be to put Jolie's attitude and presence in the body/face of Boyle.

-- Sappire Fox (SapphireFox44@hotmail.com), August 05, 2003.

I have always thought about Aeon Flux being made into a live action movie, ever since I first saw it on MTV's Liquid Television. Lara Flynn Boyle is exactly the person I first thought about playing her, she looks exactly like her!!!! Especially since she played on Men in Black 2, entering the scifi genre I hope she would say yes to playing Aeon. Yeah I guess Angelina Jole could play her, she might might might bring in a few more blockbuster bucks but we all know her as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, that wouldn't work. I LOVE AEON FLUX!! I TOTALLY WISH UPON WISH THAT IT BE MADE INTO A LIVE ACTION MOVIE VERY SOON!!! :D
