I. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

The Department of Information Resources (DIR) requires the services of one or more SQL Server Database Administrator(s) hereinafter referred to as, Worker, who meets the specifications outlined in this document. The selected Worker will be expected to perform analytical and support services as required for the implementation and deployment of selected Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) project(s). All work products resulting from the project shall be considered "works made for hire" and are the property of the Texas Water Development Board. PLEASE NOTE THE UNDERLINED SKILL/"KEY WORD" THAT THE HIRING MANAGER WILL BE EXPECTING TO SEE ON RESUME"

The duties of the Worker will include, but are not limited to, performing the tasks listed below:

Modify the SQL Server architecture of portal database to handle future load of application and to perform regular database maintenance activities.

Work in a team environment to enhance and manage an existing SQL Server database to gather information inputted to a web-front end for multiple user access (i.e. restructure tables for more efficient data storage and retrieval). The Worker must analyze current capacity utilization and database performance to identify and recommend corrective actions needed to improve performance.

Must maintain and modify database schemas as required and work with the applications development team to design and build logical and physical databases needed to support new or changing business needs.

Maintain technical documentation for operational support.

Must also establish and implement database standards and policies, assist in performing product evaluations, and define, develop, and implement database maintenance strategies. Additional job responsibilities include creation and maintenance of database security settings.

Inventory location of current code, software, and hardware to generate diagram of existing infrastructure for efficient retrieval and access of files for future troubleshooting

Other reasonable Database Administrator services as necessary for the completion of the implementation and deployment of selected TWDB project(s).

II. WORKER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The Worker will meet all of the skills and qualifications required to ensure that the tasks defined in this document can performed successfully. The Worker shall meet or exceed the following minimum requirements: PLEASE NOTE THE UNDERLINED SKILLS/"KEY WORDS" THAT THE HIRING MANAGER WILL BE EXPECTING TO SEE ON YOUR RESUME.

Five years experience as SQL Server DBA in a web environment utilizing SQL Server 2000;

Bachelor or Master degree to include a minimum of twelve (12) hours in management science, computer science, information systems, and/or data processing. A BS or BA degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field is preferable.

Five years of experience in performance tuning, DTS, SQL Server clustering, Replication, and monitoring of SQL Server.

Five years of experience writing, supporting, and optimizing stored procedures.

Five years experience supporting a multi-tiered development platform, and have a thorough understanding of performance and applications tuning, capacity planning, database maintenance procedures, and security strategies.

Minimum of five years experience in Visual Basic, ASP, COM, VBScript, and JavaScript.

Minimum of five years experience working with all phases of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including working closely with business analysts and software developer to ensure a clear understanding of system requirements.

Microsoft's SQL Server 2000 DBA certification.

The TWDB reserves the right to select the Worker it determines to best meet its needs even if Worker does not meet all the skills and qualifications listed above.
