HELLO, I AM TRYING TO WHITEN SOCKS, I AM ABOUT TO START SOAKING THEM NOW AND I WAS WONDERING IF I SHOUD USE HOT OR COLD WATER AND WHAT TEMP DURING WASHING. ALSO WAS WONDERING HOW LONG IT IS SAFE TO SOAK SOCKS AND WHITES IN BLEACH, (3/4 WATER &14 BLEACH) I KNOW THAT BLEACH IS REALLY HARD ON CLOTHES. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

If you use hot water they will shrink if they're cotton or a cotton blend. I'd use warm water to soak & warm to wash also. Bleach is hard on clothes but if you only do it periodically it won't cause them to fall apart. I soak my whites overnight- put them in before bed around 11pm and wash them in the morning around 6- 7am. If you're soaking in the washing machine tub you would fill it with socks & warm water and you'll only need a couple of cups of bleach not 1/4 of the total tub capacity. Check to make sure nothing you're soaking has nylon in it,using bleach on nylon will turn it yellow. For nylon items use OxyClean it will work without the yellowing. Hope this helps.
