How cold is it where your'e at?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : CountrySide Family : One Thread

This morning we had our first frost. When I went out it was 33 degrees and it's also humid with rain predicted again. Todays high will be 56 so it's looking and feeling like fall. Yippee!!!!!!!! I refuse to turn on the heat until November 1 so it might be a little chilly in the house for the next few weeks. LOL! I covered the tomatoes and will take the covers off in a while when the sun comes out. I hope they made it, they are still covered in blossoms. I picked all the green ones and froze them for fried green tomatoes this winter.

Everything is dead,, have had killing forsts for over 2weeks now. Woke up this morning,, 21 degrees. Been having the woodburner going as much as I can,, just not roaring like i do in the dead of winter. AS I look out outside the window,,, there is a freezing rain/snow coming down.

Can anyone say,,,

It isn't bad right now, but this week all of the cold- sensitive plants died. I have no idea how cold it got, obviously colder than in town.

On the really GREAT side the chiggers and mosquitos are now dead. On the BAD side, I don't really want to go outside because I cannot seem to get warm, no matter WHAT the thermometer says!!!!! Thin blood, I suppose.

Hi everyone

Well I think Stan has the closest weather to us. It's been 20-21 overnight with heavy killing frost and only reaching 44 for day time highs but the sun has been shining in the afternoons after the fog burns off. Replaced our roof last week and it was the best time to do that since all the hornets, bats and birds have headed south. Had a huge bonfire for that mess. Got some of the ewes bred and others lined up as they come into heat now, I can handle mid-March lambs since we have a really good barn with power if I need to blow dry any little ones. The last of this years lambs are waiting to be butchered but with hunting season in full swing I'm having a hard time fitting them in, caribou and mountian goats are really good this year and soon the moose start. Anyway got everything ready for winter and have been using the wood stove for a month now, can't go without anymore. Take care Anne, from the great white north.

Well the desert is still warm, though signs of Fall have finally arrived, days in the 90s and night in high 40s to 50s.

Been getting some much needed moisture which cools things off a little more. Should get our first freeze in a month or so though some years it has not occured till late Dec. and one year only got a few freezing days for the whole year, planted beans and peas just after Xmas that year, weird year.

It's only been in the upper 40's here at night, don't expect a frost till mid November, but we did get 6 inches of rain last night, and it's still raining! Jackie

Hi Stan

I'd send you some if I had any, I work for the butcher, cutting up and wrapping, so the meats not mine. On the other hand I think the guys in customs would poop when they found a thawed bloody parcel heading out of Canada into the States. LOL Catch you later Anne in the frozen north PS Northern lights are sparkling tonight.
