Value and origin of Deco Airplane Lamp

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Art Deco Society of Washington : One Thread

I have a cobalt glass and crome airplane lamp. the lamp has a thin glass body with sivver mainted stripes and windows on the glass hull. the hull is attached to the chromed base by a clip-type holder. Propellers are free-wheeling, as are the three taim fins. the electrical on=off switch is a rotary located on the end of the tail. chrome is lightly pitted enough to appear not to be a recent repro. Can someone help me reference it and place a value on it. am interested in selling. have been told "original" examples are quite valuable. have also seen numerous reproductions offered in various colors in range of $25-35. how do I sort all of this out!!! appreciate any info/help anyone out there can provide! Hi Sean- I called the dealor in Georgia you and Pat ran into at a show several years ago who knowledgeable about these lamps, but unfortunately, he is gone, must be out of business. So- I requested a search for Airplane lamps and I found you !! Have you had any success ? I will call you tonight if at all possible. I guess its time to try and sell the darn thing !! Are you working yet ? Hope all is well with Pat and the cats !! Take care, Sam

Not really an answer, but can you send me a picture of it? I might be interested if the $ is right. Thanks, Debbie

Hi Sean! I have a feeling I have the same lamp! I have seen one similar on e-bay once and it was selling for around 400.00! I did e- mail the seller but never got an answer back, so I guess i'm not much help to you right now. However, I'm looking in the matter from time to time and should I come across some good information,I will surely pass it on to you. I would appreciate it if you would do the same! Talk to you later, Denis
