VCD won't play in Sony DVD Playergreenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread
Video CD won't play in my Sony DVD Player which has the capability to play VCD but it plays in another DVD player.

The Sony DVD player only reads CD-RW and won't read the CD-R's. I've read that it may read Sony CD-R's but I haven't tried yet.

Scott's answer is probably correct. If you have a Sony DVD player that doesn't support CD-R, the Prime Peripherals brand of CD-Rs will work. You can buy them in the US at Office Max. Last time I checked, it was not possible to buy them online, only in the stores, so if you don't live near an Office Max, you will have to stick to using CD-RW discs.

My Sony DVP-PQ1 doesn't have any problems reading VCDs on CD-R's, and this includes El-Cheapo 10 pence a disc down the jumble sale CD-R media too!
