spamm email

greenspun.com : LUSENET : CountrySide Family : One Thread

on the main list of forums,,, under the one JUNKYARD WARS,, check out the new question asked. It has to do with a FREE program,, that lets ANYONE retreive emails from the web. And it can generate email from the same FREE program.

NO wonder its getting harder and harder to block spam,, "they" are giving the programs away. It costs every server a bunch of money, to come up with nre programs to block spam, but, , some keep finding a way around it. AT this rate,,, the World Wide Web, wont be much more than a search engine for porn. I know 3 people that cancelled their server , beacause they receive WAY TOO MANY spam emails, and it was causeing problems with their computer. They were afraid to look. I saw it wonce, and it had over 2,000 in just one day,, but if they didnt check,, they would miss emails form their friends/ realtives,, or their system would crash.

I also think spammers somehow check those profiles filled out on places like Yahoo, Lycos, etc. Also there must be someway they read or scan our posts on the boards because I will post something on a subject then about a week later I'll start getting spam with that interest mentioned in the subject/message line. I know I've got one of my interests as animals and now I'm getting all sorts of disgusting porn involving animals-Just sick. I never open them & just block and delete but over the weekend when I didn't check my e-mail daily I got 65 different e-mails all spam. I put my Yahoo on exclusive so unless I have an e-mail from someone still in my inbox or files I'm not supposed to get junk. It works about 85% of the time. Lycos & Hotmail are the worst though, that's where the sickest porn type ones are usually sent.

I NEVER get spam at Compuserve. With AOL, two of my addresses get nothing but FILTH or mortgage offers. Go figure.

As to the porn: It annoys me - - actually it makes me mad as hell, and I feel RAGE at my inability to stop the perverts from hitting my mailbox - - I can't tell you how many hours I USED to spend sending it all back to AOL -- wrote letters complaining, and then begging, even wrote many times to Steve Case.

The bottom line on the porn is that there must be a HUGE market for the stuff - or it would not be so prolific, right? I simply do not understand the MEN in this country who keep that market booming.
