This is a very basic camera, just like the Nikon FM10. It is also a very reliable camera. Although many has given very poor and bad comment about this camera, it can make as good a picture, if not better, than the latest F100 or EOS1, for the fact that it accepts Carl Zeiss lenses. Start small with a 50mm F1.9 Ml lens, and later expand on CZ lens. It is capable of producing pictures that make people's jaws drop. Of course, unless one is a 'high class disabled'that needs auto everything, this is a perfectly ok camera. Also, this is a standard back up camera for most Carl Zeiss lens user to back up their 167MT, Aria, AX or etc.

Hi, I am in the process of switching from Contax RTS to Yashica xxx. The reason for "leaving" Contax: electronics too unreliable. The reason going Yashica: Ihave a Carl Zeiss Planar 50mm, a Tamron SP 70-210mm (overhauled) and a Tamron 28mm all for Y/C mount. Si, I am going a step further than just backing up a Contax! Here is a question: The Yashica FX3 operates supposedly without battery ? How? What functions are available / affected ? I am keen on that aspect, as my mechanical Leica M3 and Bronica S2a have never let me down!

Curiuous for your comments, cheers and thanks Ingo
