daytime temps in the low 80's,, night time temps,, 40's . Makes for great sleeping weather,,,, windows open,, no fan on,, can hear all the night critters. Still have to finish the shed,,, I know,,, I know,,, but, things just "happen to pop up", and I get involved in something else. MY deisel truck has been down since the 4th of July weekend,,,, cant find the part I need for it,, cant beleive it, all it needs is a dumb shifter,,,,and I CANT FIND ONE. Even the aftermarket ones arent available right now, anywhere from 2 - 8 weeks to get it, and thats still a maybe. Could change the transmission in it, but would hate too,, since I get GREAT fuel millage now,, and any change would jsut kill that.

The chicks are growing up,, adn the 2 that hatched out earlier this year,, one is a rooster for sure,, the other,,,think its a hen, jusy still out on that one though.

The gourds in the garden are going strong,, but I think Im going to run out of time with them. ANyone know of a way to make them mature faster? Could I cut off the ends that dont have a chance, if so, ,at what point do I cut them? I know the technique works on pumpkins,, will it work on climbing gourds as well??

If you are growing gourds, like the birdhouse gourds, to use dried out, then if you cut them before they dry out on the vine they usually rot, due to the large amount of water in them. That said, you might be able to cut a hole in them, a way for the water to escape and not rot them, haven't ever tried it. Have picked them early and they will rot.

Im thinking more on the lines, of, making the plant put its energy into matureing teh one or two gourds, instead of producing more vines and flowers and such.
