WHO WAS THE VERY FIRST DIRECTOR IN THE PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT AT UC BERKELEY!!!

According to C. R. Garvey's (1929) "List of American Psychology Laboratories" (on-line at http://psychclassics.york u.ca/Garvey/), the experimental psychology lab was established at Berkeley by G. M. Stratton in 1896. It was the 32nd psych lab in North America. If Cal was like most other schools, however, it was an adjunct to the philosophy dept., and psychology did not form its own dept. until much later.
