Effect of increased tensile strength or hardness on the quality of weld

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Resistance Welding : One Thread

we supply our customers 5.5mm low carbon wire rods (1010/1012K) which customer draw down to 4mm and make fencing mesh using resistance welding. The normal TS for the drawn wire is 650MPa. This time customer had drawn 6mm wire rod (1010/1012K) which we have supplied to him, to 4mm. The TS of drawn wire has increased to 800MPa. After welding of this wire for making fencing mesh all the welds have come off from the joint. Could you please enlighten on this problem. Does increase in TS or hardness has any impact on the resistance welding properties.

Thanks
