UFO's , Who's seen them? Who will tell about it ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : CountrySide Family : One Thread

This is a suject I usually stay away from publicly.I had though about starting a post on the subject in the past, but thought it may not be the right place for it .Today after reading this story in the Washington Post, I figured it would be ok, cause there are nuts out there who would actually tell their story to a news paper and give their name to be printed in the story . http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A8131-2002jul.html So here I go .... Since a lot of people who read this forum live in rural places,I figured there has to be some midnight star gazers ,who on a clear night look up and contemplate on what this life is all about. And wonder, where we fit in , in this vast universe , that seems to extend into the night sky of infinity ? Some might just turn to the relgious beliefs they were brought up on and just take it for granted , we just live and die , if we're bad we go to a bad place, if we're good we go to an after life in Paradise. And some higher being will take the wheel and drive us to our salvation as we sit in the back seats complacently looking out the window.. Others , myself included, want to drive , and believe , to reach salvation , we must learn how to . I believe Life is a quest of the unknown , a sought of journey through a maze of our perceived realities , as we travel through our waken world, our dreams, and the place inbetween , in search for a Universal Truth. Having seen aircrafts that are unknown to most, and the way I've seen some travel, I'm aware that even this computor I'm communicating with is like a playscoll baby toy, like the one that has the steering wheel with the horn and some plastic things that make clicking noises. I was mezmorized by these strange moving crafts, like a savage from the past would be if shown a flashlight. It was magic.

This subject always makes me think of the book, "Horton hears a Who", ever read that book? LOL!

Bottom line for me,(and btw Steve, I can relate to your thought process to large extent) is that I would never presume to be so egotistical. Put it this way, in all the wide world/s, we (meaning our planet as well as humans both collectively and individually)are like a tiny speck, 'relatively' nothing but a dust mote in space and/or time......and for me to think there is no other life, ANYWHERE, just doesn't seem....well, sensible. It accually seems sort of silly to me, to hold fast to a belief that, we, as humans, have superior intellect in the vastness, (a vastness we cannot even grasp with our limited minds). I think that is sort of arrogant. But, I honestly don't think I'll know much more than that, even after I've lived my life through. :-) I guess I'll take the "easy" route, and just try my level best to be a truley loving person! I think that in itself, is a pretty tall order! Damn this human frailty thing! ;-)

Patty, the only thing I remember about Horton was he was an elephant who said, "I ment what I said and I said what I ment" and he sat on an egg. Now where talking 35 years ago since I've read the book so I don't remember to much. Now I'm thinking, isn't "Horton Here's A Who" a Dr. Zuess ,work. Reason I'm asking is, after I wrote about this UFO post and shut my computor , I walked into my kitchen to get a drink of water, and the Dr. Zuess book, Green eggs and Ham came to mind. For what reason ? No reason I can make sense of. Now you mention ,what I think is another DR.Zuess book. So since I find nothing a coincidence , I'm wondering where's the relation that ties this together. Could it be this author of childrens book had filled the subconcious minds of children in a diliberate manner ? Dr.zuess or what ever his real name was , Was a person who was known to ingest hallucinogen plants and substances. He was also into the metaphysical. Since he might have messed with our subconciuos as children, I hope his intentions were good. And all these years my unconventional thinking , which my ego led me to believe was original , might just be the works of a genius , Dr.Zuess. Now , does anyone know how one can get himself deprogramed ?

-- SM Steve (Unreal@home.com), July 29, 2002.

LOLLOL! Yes, it was a Dr, Seuss book! Hmm, quick summary....Horton, an easygoing elephant hears a plea for help, a tiny plea. Only he can hear the civilization on the clover leaf. He is resolved to save them, but noone believes him...only he can hear with his big ears. He is vilanized horribly, but still, he holds the tiny clover blossom aloft...

Dr. Suess had some good books dealing with very controversial issues. For example, The Lorax (environmental), and The Sneeches(acceptance).

He's not a real favorite of mine, but he did have a powerful voice that he used to speak to children.

;-)

I got to thinking it was interesting that you recalled that quote. Here is the quote in it's entirety, "I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful, one hundred percent." It is actually quite famous. This quote is from the book you remember, Horton makes a promise to "egg sit" for a lazy bird, and he keeps his promise, it was a hard year for Horton. ;-)

The prevalent quote in the sequel, Horton Hears a Who, is "A person's a person, no matter how small." This particular quote is widely used as well, oddly for a very diverse span of vastly different viewpoints!

I ran across these amusing quotes, hehe.

The site below is a parody, a definate satire, so don't take this too seriously! It did seem amusingly appropriate to the thread....;-)

.......on the subject of UFO's......I wonder if Dr. Suess believed in them? He certainly "thought outside the box", eh? Yeah, bet he did.....Outter space, innerspace. ;-)

Patty , in response to your last line of your post . You wrote: .....on the subject of UFO's......I wonder if Dr. Suess believed in them? He certainly "thought outside the box", eh? Yeah, bet he did.....Outter space, innerspace. ;-) And now I take the advice of one of the quotes from above :"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind". So I'll dare to say , I wonder if Dr. Suess came out of one.

-- SM Steve (Unreal@home.com), July 31, 2002.

Patty , I just had to make clear that I was joking about Dr.Suess and his coming off a UFO. I figured you knew but just in case.... Those TV shows with people telling their stories about UFO's , you'll find everyone of them has a book out on the subject they're trying to sell . To believe in UFO's differs a bit from seeing one. Before you see one , you can believe in them. After you see one , you don't know what to believe. And it's always more forturnate to see one while with other people. Unless your with other people and your the only one who sees it. Never flag one down with a flashlight , they get real nasty when someone shines a light in their eyes. Next thing you know , there's missing time you can't account for and your eyes balls feel sore. Being that only Patty posted back on this subject leads me to just a few theories ,no one wants to admit they've seen UFO's cause they fear men in balck will come to visit at their homes ,cause they fear men in white will come to visit at their homes , people won't believe them , or all you others were actually abducted and only hipnosis will bring back the memory.

Haha, Steve........I surely do wish I had seen some, and I wouldnt give a rat's ass if someone thought I was nutz! I'd talk about it!

-- earthmama (earthmama48@yahoo.com), July 31, 2002.

Hi, Steve! I haven't seen a UFO but have always kinda wanted to. A good friend of mine told me about one she saw. She's very trustworthy and was reluctant to talk about it. The story she told gave me goosebumps. She saw it in the mountains of NC, I'm thinking it might have been in the mountain area close to Gastonia, which is where she's from. My aunt's ex-husband supposedly saw one in central FL, where they lived. I was too young to hear the full story. I just remember it being mentioned.

-- Bren (wayoutfarm@skybest.com), July 31, 2002.

Oh well, there is all kinds of interesting info out there. I mean before they where refered to as "UFO's" (after the famous DC sightings), They were called "Foo Fighters" (multiple war sightings). Quite interesting really. The Freedom of information act provides much additional documentation. Just do a couple searches. Here are a few fun sites. :-) Even NASA probably has some documentation?

I won't mention by close encounter now , I don't have time cause I need to go to town. But one that wasn't so close was in Florida in 1994 , it was sunset not dark yet . It was amber in color and appeared to be taking off from the ground in the same direction of the sky as the space shuttles do from the kennedy space center. The land is flat there with 2 story apartments on the view of the horizen .So I first saw it when it was high enough not to be blocked by the buildings . I figured it was a rocket launch that I didn't hear about on the news .And I always like watching them . The difference was , on the other times I've seen the rocket launches, which I was about 4 hours driving time from where they launch the rockets, They usually had amber color fuel exaust from the bottom of the rocket. At this far away from the launch , you only see the amber colored fule exuast not the rocket. But this time I saw what looked like the amber color coming from the top and around the sides of what I thought to be a rocket .When it reached a certain altitude in the sky , it just stopped ,like it frooze , than a amber colored ring of the same color appeared out of no where around the amber colored craft , and it looked like it imploded. It was gone . Like it went into another dimension.A few other people saw it and everyone looked confused, like a , where did the rocket go expression ,on everyones face who saw it .

Oooh, Patty! I love hearing people's ghosts stories! I could actually add to that thread. We had a door that kept opening when we first moved here. The way the door latched ... well, the only explaintion was a spirit.

-- Bren (wayoutfarm@skybest.com), July 31, 2002.

Patty I like that UFO skeptic site. I've never seen it before . Most of the sites I've found were pretty shallow. A comment I have about the theories that speak of impossibilities of traveling the speed of light. And how long it would take to reach another solar system. I'm not well schooled so I can just make star gazer guesses as to where they come from or to be more percise how they travel here . One thing I'm drawing conclusions from was a government science project from a science facility on Long Island N.Y. that was made public some years ago and even had a diagram of the procedure in the news paper I read it from. Gold particles were enclosed in a vacumed sealed tube . They were propelled to the speed of light. How this was done wasn't explained in the article . When the particles reach the speed of light , they passed through each other. Supposingly matter consist of light moving slow. When matter is accelarated to light speed it becomes light. So like 2 beams of a flashlight can cross each others path and pass through each other. So did these gold particles. When they slowed down the gold particles below the speed of light ,some particles were stuck together , they had become solid matter as they were passing through each other .Now, I'm not sure ,what I'm adding here is speculation, Gravity is what makes light slow down , tuning light into matter. Gravity is some sort of vibration ? A device that can counter balance gravity by using a different frequency vibration can equalize gravity to 0 turning a materialized object ( matter ) back to light . This is what I believe is the propelling system of the UFOs. As they use their anti gravity machines they become light. That is why they glow. On the UFO skeptic web site You posted .The story: Everywhere by Stealth, by Richard Dolan , where the people are laying on the lawn in Maryland and they see a craft that becomes 4 crafts and go away in different directions. Like the gold particles experiment , they passed through each other , It's the same technologies but probably more refined. And better controlled. Since the universe is made of light that's moving slower than the speed of light by gravity, this tecnology allows travel to other parts of the universe in ways most can't concieve. By passing through the fabric of matter. They pass through the fabric of the universe , and in the methods used time doesn't exist. Time is atually part of matter. So it doesn't take them light years to travel from solar system to solar system. It's probably less the an Earth second. In second I mean the mesurement of time being less than a minute. Which means these guys were here before Roswell , New Mexico. Probably before humans were. Which leads to another suject . Ever notice Humans are the only land mamals on this planet that are almost hairless. That's excludding , Robin Williams. Now just because these beings that are visiting Earth are of very high intelligence it doesn't mean they are here to help us .. Remember history. Intelligent humans made slaves out of the less intelligents humans, as we do with animals also. And every speices has the same motives. Self presavation. Although ,like every human has different qualities, good people and bad people, it's might be the same with the them. And some believe there are different spiecies from different parts of the Universe. I've seen their crafts, so I don't questain, if they exist or not . I questain ,what are their motives ?

-- SM Steve (Unreal@home.com), August 01, 2002.

Yeah, I guess that is the site that NASA sent all their equiptment, info., etc. to. Pretty scientific approach it seemed like.

*silly sidenote*!!!

I was talking to a friend about this and I said similar to what I said above about thinking it was arrogant to assume there couldn't be life elsewhere. And he sez he thinks it's arrogant that we would think they would be interested in us! I sez, think of it like this, bugs and fungi are interesting! LOL! So then we joked about the human race being some silly science project, "Now Timmy, you wanted that universe! You promised to take good care of it! What is that smell coming from under your bed???" HAHAHAHA!

-- Patty (SycamoreHollow@aol.com), August 01, 2002.

Patty , I spend my childhood to the present wondering what humans true perpose could be. We are warlike , as there is always a war going on somewhere on the planet at any given time , and we as a whole ( Society) seem to be self destuctive. Example: destroying our enviorment and the life properties essential to sustain our speices. Since I trust in Nature , I thought , maybe us Humans aren't as important as we believe we are. Maybe we are just a type of biological process , and our purpose is to change the enviorment on this planet for a speices to come. The global warming , the changing of our Oxigen filled air being changed over to a methane gas, the increased ultra violet rays , maybe this is what another speices needs to sustain their life. Could it be , they created us for this purpose ? So we could become industrialized and manufactor a sustainable enviorment for their colonization of this planet.Kind of like changing the PH in a vegetable garden so another type of vegetable could grow , where it might not have been able to grow before. If this is true , should we fight off these invaders ? Maybe the plan is bigger in the over all picture. As a visionary Hopi Indian said to his people when they were being slaughtered toward extinction. Don't worry we will incarnate to be the children of the white man. As I believe humans to be a genectically altered being manufactored from these ( Alien Beings ) as we call them. I feel they are the ones responsible for the creation of our speices. And as I believe energy can not be made nor destroyed , but constantly changing form , (like water , to vapor , to clouds , to snow , to water ) I believe we re- incarnate. We might become one of these Alien Beings in the future. So although we might feel we are being used by them for some evil plan . It is all in the good of life feeding off life to sustain all in the Universe. Of course this is theoretically speaking .

I do not like to tell my UFO story because it does not lend itself to being a credible person.

Anyway, here goes:

When I was a junior in high school in southern Wisconsin in 1969, I was with about 6 other guys who were walking back from town on a tar road through corn fields. We saw a light in the distance, but kind of ignored it and kept walking for about 5 minutes until we found ourselves on an intercept course with the object.

When it came within 40 yards of us, we all jumped in the ditch and tried to hide in the tall grass. The object looked just like the disc from the old SCI-fi movie: Close Encounters. It had the multicolor lights around the edge along with a bright light beaming straight down into a nearby field. There was an odd hum sound, and at first we thought the object was going to come over to us. Finally after a number of minutes, the bright light was turned off, and the obect went like from 0 to a real fast speed almost instantly in a darting type fashion. At the same time the lights on the edge of the disc changed colors and patterns of light.

When we got back to the school which was a few miles away, our classmates had already seen the same thing and called the local police to report it. They saw it darting across the lake.

My own theory is that maybe UFO's are just some type of time machines that are coming back to get plant and animal sample of things that might have gone obsolete. Because, why else the bright light in the field underneath it???

Anyway, I was glad that I did not see the thing alone and to this day, the classmates that saw it with me remember it....none of us ever saw another one, but it was definately a UFO.

I have been in cities where the police used coptors to chase bad guys at night and there is no way that a chopper looks or sounds anything like the UFO that we saw.

Anyone know why COuntrysidetoday.com is not working???? I just found it yesterday, registered, and tried returning some notes today and it is broken....at least it does not allow me to get it.

-- Garyfrom Mn (hpysheep@midwestinfo.com), August 01, 2002.

Gary , I'd say that's a close encounter. I've seen a trangle shaped one . It was un like the triangle shaped ones I've seen on the internet that were suppose to be pictures of UFO 's. It was directly over head and it moved like it was skipping time frames. Before that it appear for 2 hours as an amber glowing ball motion less on the horizen . I was with 3 others who saw it with me. It wasn't a fun event as most might think it is . It's chilling . Gary You mentioned : "I do not like to tell my UFO story because it does not lend itself to being a credible person " . I had alot of jokes made when I told my story around where I live , but I also found others who'd tell theirs , one is a well known buisness person in my area, he had some interesting encounters himself. Bren , I hope you get to see one, it's a life changing event , buts it's kind of scary when your close enough and you realize , they see you also .
