Aeon

I was watching a special on the History Channel earlier this evening, a program about the history of the mythological witch. A healing woman who harnessed natures secrets for humanities good, a wise woman. A woman who possessed great power. The Middle Ages transformed her into an Christian symbol of evil, (point of view is everything). I was struck by the fact that Aeon Flux came to mind as a modern day equivalent of this myth, demonstrating behaviors that would have classified her as witchlike and probably would have got her hung if she lived in the vicinity of Salem in the right century. Witches of the golden age of Greece were both powerful and beautiful, (Circe) absorbed with luring men to their demise with seductive behaviors, untangling mens plans and causing general chaos. A woman who fascinates us because of her mysterious nature. Denise Poirier's voice was perfect for delivering Aeon's lines, hinting beyond the scripts words as to the nature of her deep and mysterious character. There is so much to be considered about Aeon.

Trippy sci-fi mindbending, haha, this really encompasses the eclectic aspects of Aeon Flux and why we love her, well spoken Logo. We are a cult, aren't we!

See, I would have always put her some where between a harpe and a siren. Especially when she was winged for the dream section of that one episode Ithsmus Crypticus(?).

This is completely unrelated to this post (and rather egotistical of me; I confess), but I just wrote a brief fan reviewof the series for a commercial web site and I am interested to hear what other people think.

Yowza. My favorite phrase is "orgiastic spurt of effervesent creativity."

I am inspired! Read my review/rant on the little-seen "Galaxies Are Colliding", posted on (where else?) the Art Of Film forum...
