I was watching a special on the History Channel earlier this evening, a program about the history of the mythological witch. A healing woman who harnessed natures secrets for humanities good, a wise woman. A woman who possessed great power. The Middle Ages transformed her into an Christian symbol of evil, (point of view is everything). I was struck by the fact that Aeon Flux came to mind as a modern day equivalent of this myth, demonstrating behaviors that would have classified her as witchlike and probably would have got her hung if she lived in the vicinity of Salem in the right century. Witches of the golden age of Greece were both powerful and beautiful, (Circe) absorbed with luring men to their demise with seductive behaviors, untangling mens plans and causing general chaos. A woman who fascinates us because of her mysterious nature. Denise Poirier's voice was perfect for delivering Aeon's lines, hinting beyond the scripts words as to the nature of her deep and mysterious character. There is so much to be considered about Aeon.
