knee replacement after knee fusion ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : About Joints : One Thread

I am in my 20s and had a knee fusion done when I was a child due to an accident, my knee was fused with a plate and a nail put in my knee. I am still satisfied with the functional outcome of the knee fusion, I just wonder what technology can offer today and whether this might be an option for me some time in the future. Thanks.

Knee replacement after knee fusion is challenging and not yet a reliable procedure.

If the functional outcome is satisfactory, I would not recommend surgery at this time. Future technology may hold some opportunity.

I am in my fithteen year after undergoing an athrodisis to my right knee. I now experience frequent sharp pains where my knee cap once was. Is it possible for the athrodisis to break up,and if s what can be done.
