VCD does not play on ordinary VCD players

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have a Dazzle digital vedio CD creator-II PCI. I have a pentium 4 1.8GHz speed computer with 256mb ram and an LG CD writer. I capture the VHS tape from my VCR in Vedio CD format. I then burn it using Roxio Platinum software. The Vedio CD plays fine in computer and some of the costly VCD players but......... the vcd does not play in ordinary VCD players. only audio, sometimes a stationary vedio frame. I tried changing CD writer, but no use. I used WinonCd 3.7 version, no use. I checked with Dazzle.com but unfortunately no answer. If i encode the above said file using a Zingmpeg encoder and then burn it on the CD, the vedio CD plays well in ordinary vedio CD players, but after half an hour, there is blurring of colour, mismatch of voice and action. Can anybody help please.

Do not capture to MPEG-1 directly; find out if your Dazzle can capture to some form of *.AVI. Then encode that *.AVI to VCD- compliant MPEG with TMPGenc. Lastly, throw away your Roxio and use Nero to create the VCD. There's more in this forum if u can read a few of the entries here. Plod ahead...
