Puppy chews EVERYTHING!

Does anyone know how I can keep our Great Pyr pup from chewing on everything imaginable? He has already chewed up $100. worth of bedding plants, our garden, the new pool for the kids, all his water pails, the garden hose, patio chairs, etc. I'm getting pretty frustrated...ARRGGHH! He also constantly pulls out the extension cords for our water and sewer pumps.

Thanks for ANY tips. Judy

get him his own "special" chew toy,, like one of those indestructable bones. PLay wiht him with the toy, and when you catch him starting to chew something else,, scold him, and get him to take his chew toy. Could also try to "paint" the things he likes to chew with pepper sauce or something else he may not like the taste of

It's like the terrible twos in children. There is little you can do but endure and pray for THREE. LOL!

Thanks, Stan. He does have chew toys, pigs ears, etc, but only wants what he "shouldn't". I will try your suggestion of scolding when he takes something else. The biggest problems occur when we are not home, or sleeping. He doesn't seem to do too much when we are out there with him, but I'll try anything at this point! I hate to tie him up when we're not home, as he seems to stay around here real well, and has since we got him @ 8 wks. Since that is when the worst happens, it is obviously related, but I don't want to pen him or tie him up. That seems to defeat the purpose of having him to begin with.

Granny Hen: You're probably right...We'll just have to make the best of it. Our youngest skipped the terrible 2's, but is making up for it with the terrifying 4's! He, he. Attitude with a BIG T! Now if only she can stand up for herself with such passion when she is a teen against bullies, peer pressure, etc. Sigh, one can only hope.

Wishing you all a great day....Judy
